Besides the obvious, there are a few other elements and resources you will need the ability to access and use in order to successfully utilise all of our site and services on offer.
Basic computer and IT skills
We are an online gallery, virtually hosting your works on our site. You will need the basic ability and skills to use a computer, laptop, tablet and/or mobile devise to access the internet and interact with our site.
You will need to be able to access the site regularly to keep your profile and listings up to date, logging in at least once every six months to keep your account active.
Please note Bluethumb staff do not provide internet or computer training, nor are we able to answer questions in relation to hardware (e.g. how do I upload a photo to my computer) or service providers (e.g. issues linked to email domain or internet providers).
You will need an email address
Again as an online provider everything is communicated digitally, and all primary correspondence with artists goes through email. If you do not have an email account you will not be able to create an account with us.
Communication Skills
You will need to be contactable, either by email or phone.
Be Professional
When selling on our site you are presented to buyers as a selling artist. Whether you are a hobby artist or a full time professionally, you will need to treat the listing and sale of your work in a professional manor (both to Bluethumb staff and customers).
Ensure all communication sent out is professional and relevant to the enquiry/issue.
You will need to be able to pack, or source someone to pack, your artworks
Artist's are responsible for packing their own works to our packaging requirements when they sell through us. Either by doing this themselves or sourcing someone that can do this for them. There are service providers out there who can pack the work for you for a fee, such as Pack and Send. Bluethumb does not cover any costs associated with packing artworks please see FAQ What are Bluethumb's Packaging Requirements for Artists?
You will need access to a printer
Again, all our communication and information is electronic. Therefore we send shipping labels to artists digitally for you to print off and attach to your parcel/s. It is the artists responsibility to ensure they have access to a printer to do this. If you do not have a printer at home please see the below FAQ for suggestions Do I need to print a label for my shipment?
