What kind of art can I sell on Bluethumb?

Bluethumb welcomes original, handmade artwork from Australian artists, where the artwork is physically located in Australia with you, the artist. If your work fits this, you can list it without an application.


Accepted (no application required)

  • Original paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolour, etc.)

  • Original drawings (pencil, charcoal, ink, etc.)

  • Original mixed media

  • Original printmaking editions (linocut, screen print, etching, lithograph, woodcut, collagraph, monoprint)

  • Limited edition fine art prints of your own original work (e.g., giclée/reproduction prints)


Accepted with approval (application required before listing)

  • Fine art photography

  • Digital art

  • Sculpture (original or limited edition)

To apply: log in to your account and submit a specialisation request (approval is required before these can be listed).


Not accepted on Bluethumb

  • Surfboards, snowboards, skateboards

  • Furniture

  • Jewellery, clothing, accessories

  • Dinnerware/tableware (cups, plates, etc.)

  • Homewares (cushions, tea towels, clocks, etc.)

  • Mosaics

  • Rugs/carpets/tapestries/weavings/textiles

  • Greeting cards, stationary

  • Digital files/downloads

  • AI-generated images

  • Repurposed/upcycled items

  • Biosecurity / restricted items (e.g., untreated natural materials or restricted products)

Note: This list may change over time—please check if you’re unsure.


What happens if something is listed incorrectly

Listings that don’t meet these requirements (or are listed without required approval) may be moved to Drafts, and serious or repeated breaches may result in account deactivation.

If your unsure please check with the team before listing to avoid disappointment.
