How do I cancel/close my Artist Account?

If you want to temporarily or permanently remove your account from site.

Written by Kate Revill

We understand artists may need to remove their accounts from site for a variety of reasons. The team can assist with this.

Depending on your needs, you can choose to cancel your subscription, temporarily deactivate your account, or permanently delete it.

Cancelation Options

Managing your Bluethumb account requires an understanding of the differences between deactivating and deleting your account. Below, you'll find a clear guide on these processes and their impacts, helping you make the best decision. Additionally, it is important to understand that Bluethumb does not currently support merging multiple profiles into a single account due to each being tied to a unique email address.

  1. Account Deactivation - if you wish to have your account removed from site for a period of time (e.g. your travelling for 3+ months or just want a break from selling for a while), the team can temporarily deactivate your account. This saves all account info, including listed works with us. We can then reactivate your account at a later date if you wish to restart selling.

  2. Account Deletion - if you wish to have your account and all associated information permanently removed from site we can delete your account entirely. Please note once deleted, accounts can not be retrieved and all saved information will be lost. This will result in the removal of all artworks from public view permanently. Reactivation is not possible after deletion. Additionally, Bluethumb ensures that all associated data, including personal details like your name and email address, are fully removed from their active systems during the deletion process. If you have concerns about residual data, contacting Bluethumb support can provide further confirmation. Once a profile is deleted, it cannot be reinstated, reinforcing the importance of verifying that users no longer require access before deletion.

IMPORTANT: If you are subscribed to any plans on Bluethumb, please cancel your subscription before proceeding with either of the above options, otherwise you may still incur charges after your account has been deactivated/deleted.

Please email through to the Customer Service Team at help@bluethumb.com.au with your request and they will be able to assist. You may also reach out for concerns around data privacy, residual data, or if you believe older data might have triggered unintended communications.

FAQs

Can I reactivate my Bluethumb account after deactivation?

Yes, deactivated accounts can be reactivated by contacting Bluethumb Support at any time in the future.

Can I reactivate my Bluethumb account after deletion?

No, once an account is deleted it is permanently removed from our site, all information (listings and profile info) will be lost. You will need to create a whole new account. Furthermore, Bluethumb removes all associated personal details from their active systems to ensure complete data privacy.

Will I lose my artwork listings if I temporarily deactivate my account?

No, your artwork listings and account information will be preserved during deactivation.

What happens to my subscription features immediately after cancellation?

Cancellation will result in the immediate loss of access to all subscription features. To cancel any active subscriptions before requesting removal of your account:

  1. Log into your Bluethumb account.

  2. Navigate to the Billing Page

  3. Locate the subscription option and click Cancel.

  4. Confirm the cancellation. Please note that canceling your =subscription will immediately revoke access to all features. Ensure you complete this step before proceeding with account deactivation or deletion to avoid unexpected charges.

Why might I receive email communication after account deletion?

We schedule some of our communication to go out in the future, as such depending on timing you could receive a scheduled email send if you close your account after we schedule the send. Normally this is max 5-7 days after account removal.

Alternatively, residual data from past interactions, such as having multiple accounts with us, or forwarding due to spelling errors, could trigger automated email systems. For instance, an earlier account linked to a miss spelt email address might inadvertently forward to the correct email address linked to a closed account.

Bluethumb recommends contacting their support team if you experience such issues to address concerns and ensure future communications align with your preferences.

Does Bluethumb allow merging of multiple accounts?

Bluethumb does not support merging multiple accounts as each account is tied to an individual email address. Users are advised to use their preferred email address for all transactions and manage other profiles separately or close them if no longer needed.
